Ricky Hong is a Hong Kong–based, 18-year-old watchmaker and designer. From modding G-Shocks to crafting tourbillons, he blends youthful curiosity with serious craft. In 2023, he joined the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève Academy, pursuing durable, elegant designs from his bedroom workshop.
The Story
At 13, a Lemania movement sparked Ricky’s journey. He moved from watch modification, then designing components and polishing movements. Milestones include a Vantablack-inspired daily wearer, a gold-case tourbillon, a custom SW200 build, and an openworked tourbillon featuring his surname calligraphy—each refining technique amid school commitments and humility.
